Our Mission
At The Helping Hand of Greater Little Rock, our mission is simple but vital: to provide food, clothing, and basic necessities to those in our community who need them most. We believe that every individual deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances. By bridging the gap between surplus and need, we strive to ensure that no one in Central Arkansas goes without the essentials for a healthy life.
A Legacy of Compassion
Founded in 1971, The Helping Hand began as a grassroots effort by local faith communities to address the growing issue of hunger and poverty in Little Rock. What started as a small pantry has evolved into a cornerstone of community support. For over five decades, we have remained a non-profit, non-denominational organization driven by the belief that a "helping hand" can change the trajectory of a person’s life
How We Serve the Community
We operate through two primary pillars of service, ensuring that our neighbors have access to both nutrition and affordable goods:
The Food Pantry: Our most critical service. We provide grocery assistance to thousands of families annually, focusing on nutritional balance and food security.
The Thrift Store: Our shop offers high-quality, donated clothing and household items at a fraction of retail prices. The proceeds from the thrift store directly fund our food programs, creating a sustainable cycle of giving.
Emergency Assistance: Beyond food and clothing, we work to connect individuals with resources to help them navigate times of crisis.
Our Impact by the Numbers
While our work is defined by the lives we touch, the scale of our operation speaks to the incredible support of the Little Rock community:
50+ Years of continuous service to Central Arkansas.
Thousands of families fed and clothed every year.
100% Volunteer-driven spirit, supported by local donors and partners.
